Some quotes to inspire you when you feel you're in the SH*T

No matter how well the things are going on, you sometimes need to be motivated. For me, motivation is just like energy. I literally need it everyday. Here are some great quotes for you if you are feeling demotivated.

Henry Ford

“Paying attention to simple little things that most men neglect makes a few men rich.” – This reminds me that when you hit a problem or looking for strategy, the change doesn’t have to be massive. It is normally the small tweaks that make the big difference.

Steve Jobs

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” – This is an important point to bring to light that you spend time on your passion, not in something other people have a passion in.

Isaac Mophatlane

“If you did not look after today’s business then you might as well forget about tomorrow” - I like this because it brings up the issue of consequence. Everything you do today has a consequence for tomorrow; that can be a positive consequence or a negative.

Jeffrey Immelt

“Surviving a failure gives you more self-confidence. Failures are great learning tools, but they must be kept to a minimum” – Failure is part and parcel of being in business, but let’s not kid ourselves it and say we can’t learn from anything other than failure. Success is a great teacher so let’s work to get that as well.

Charles Darwin

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change” - The ability to adapt in a world that changes constantly will ensure you are not left behind attempting to sell a product/service no one wants anymore.

Thomas Watson, Sr.

“To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart”- The most successful businesses are built to last. That means you have to want love doing what you are doing. If you don’t; get a job, or start another business.

Chris Corrigan

“You can’t overestimate the need to plan and prepare. In most of the mistakes I’ve made, there has been this common theme of inadequate planning beforehand. You really can’t over-prepare in business!” - Whilst it is important to have the skills to think on your feet in any business, watching shows like ‘the apprentice’ will display that, planning is of prime importance and can keep you out of a lot of pot holes in your business path.

Nolan Bushnell

“The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.” - Planning is great, but on its own is a hindrance. Planning is part of turning on the ignition, you still have to move to get anywhere.

Richard Branson

“Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.” Keep your eye out for opportunities that you may not have planned for but ultimately could be better for your business than what you planned.

Aristotle

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit” – reminds me if im continually whining, it will become a habit

Seneca

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
If I’m hoping something happens this shows me where I’m commonly lacking

Pablo Picasso

“I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”– reminds me to never be confident that I know it all

Proverb

“Some people make things happen, some watch things happen, while others wonder what has happened.”
Reminds me of what section I want to be in, but gives a nice distinction of 3 kinds of people who enter business. Only one of those sections typically lasts a great deal of time.

Bernard Baruch

“If all you have is a hammer in the toolbox, everything looks like a nail.”
This reminds me that problems are sometimes solved by looking from another angle.

Henry Ford

"Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, only this time more wisely." – Making a mistake or a bad decision doesn’t always mean the end, but it does if you don’t learn from it and decide it is the end.

Sir Winston Churchill

"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm." -

Mark Twain

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear”. – This quote reminds everyone that it is not about trying to eliminate fear because that is biologically embedded in us. However we can learn to control it and prosper.

Franklin D. Roosevelt

“When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on” – you don’t have to be in business long before you realise perseverance is paramount.

Buddhist Saying

“If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking” - If you know in every muscle that this is what you want to do, all you have to do now is keep moving.

Oscar Wilde

“Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result”. This brings it back to bare bones foundations; its not about having a gift, it is about finding the right formula for you.

Maybe you have a quote you remind yourself of in times when you're in the sh#t?
